Leap of Faith

When my Wife, Marie sat me down last Summer to tell me I’m “here but not here” too often, I knew then the hours I was working wasn’t sustainable let alone healthy for me or my family. As any small business owner knows we don’t have the luxury to simply delegate tasks so doing multiple jobs is normal for my business partner Dean Owens and I.

After assessing our current workload, pipeline and more importantly our bank account at the time we agreed to take the “Leap of Faith” and recruit someone to join us on our journey. Fast forward almost six months and I’m delighted to say Brendan Forbes is settling well into his new role as Contracts Manager. Originally from Somerset his journey began in 1999, when he first gained his trade in Joinery and Carpentry laying the foundation for a career built on craftsmanship, delivery, and problem solving.

A defining chapter in his journey was his 12 years of service in the British Army (Infantry), where he developed a strong understanding of leadership, teamwork, and strategic problem-solving. Brendan’s career has seen him progress through site management, project leadership, and now senior construction management. His commitment to excellence was recently recognized with the achievement of an SVQ in Senior Construction Management, further solidifying his expertise in the field.

His journey from tradesman to senior leader is a testament to his hard work, adaptability, and passion for the industry and he is a credit to himself and Mckenzie Projects.
